Eldritch Forces (Single)

by Aaron J. Shay

/
1.
This morning, while I was on my break I decided to leave everything behind Forsake the trudging world of civilization And join the eldritch forces that conspire against mankind I told my supervisor the news She was surprised, but she took it with stride A handshake and some congratulations, then I was on my way When I got home, a black car was waiting outside Isn't it nice To have something to believe in? Isn't it it nice To have somewhere you belong? When humanity is fed into the Void I will be there Singing this song This morning, where I read forsaken tomes I made some new friends by the coffee machine Mephistopheles is from Germany, and he's really into ska And Darryl from Salem, he's got the strangest eyes I've ever seen We're gonna take a botany class together We're gonna go camping in the ancient hills just outside of town And go fishing for slithering beasts in the bottomless pool While Darryl sings like the voices coming from the burial ground Isn't it nice To have something to believe in? Isn't it it nice To have somewhere you belong? When humanity is fed into the Void Give me your hand No I will not cut it off And I'm starting to understand That these people are not evil minions at all And I'm starting to understand That my initial impressions were from ignorance and gall These cursed tongues are just someone else's language These forsaken tomes are just someone else's books Even this dagger they gave me is ceremonial, it can't even cut bread Not everything is as strange as it first looks And feeding humanity into the void Wouldn't be such a bad thing if you'll just hear me out Like David said, "heaven is a place where nothing ever happens" And nothing is what the Void is all about Isn't it nice To have something to believe in? Isn't it it nice To have somewhere you belong? Isn't it nice To have some perspective? Isn't it nice To finally sing along?
